Direct answer
This site collects almost nothing. There is no account system, no newsletter, no advertising network, and no analytics configured. The cost calculator and the decision tool run entirely in your browser and send nothing to a server. What remains is ordinary web hosting: a server log of requests, and whatever cookies WordPress sets to make the site function. If that changes, this page changes first.
Who we are
DuctCleaning.ws is an independent consumer publication about residential air duct cleaning. We are not a duct cleaning company and we do not provide services in anyone’s home. The site runs on WordPress. Contact details are on the contact page.
What we collect today
Stated plainly, because a privacy policy that hedges is useless:

Server logs
Like essentially every website, this one is served by a web host that records requests. A log entry typically includes the requesting IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page if any, and the browser’s user-agent string. This happens at the hosting layer and is a normal part of operating a server: it is what makes it possible to diagnose faults, identify abusive traffic, and confirm that pages are being served.
We do not use log data to build profiles of readers, we do not combine it with any other source, and we do not attempt to identify individuals from it. Retention is determined by the hosting provider’s ordinary practice.
Cookies
The site sets no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, and no tracking cookies, because none of those systems are installed.
WordPress itself may set cookies in a small number of situations. If you log in to the site as an administrator, it sets session and preference cookies, which affects the site’s operators rather than its readers. If a page accepts reader comments and you leave one, WordPress may store your name, email address, and site address in cookies so that you do not have to retype them. Ordinary reading of the site does not require you to accept any cookie, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser without breaking anything on these pages.
Because there is no advertising or analytics layer, there is nothing here for a cookie consent banner to consent to, which is why you have not seen one.
The calculator and the decision tool
Nothing you enter is transmitted
The cost calculator and the decision tool run entirely in your browser using JavaScript loaded with the page. Your home size, vent count, system count, and answers about mold, pests, moisture, or renovation are processed on your own device and are never sent to a server. We do not receive them, do not store them, and could not retrieve them if we wanted to.
There is no email gate, no “send me my results” step, and no point at which either tool asks who you are. Reloading the page discards everything you entered.
The pricing rates and decision outcomes those tools use are published as ordinary text on the same pages, which means the tools can be checked and also means they work without collecting anything.
If you email us
If you write to us, we have your message and your email address, for the obvious reason that you sent them. We use them to reply, and to fix whatever you have told us about. We do not add correspondents to any list, do not share messages with third parties, and do not use an address for anything other than the conversation it belongs to.
Links to other sites
We link heavily to primary sources: government agencies, court documents, trade associations, and news organizations. Those sites have their own privacy practices and we have no control over them. A link is a citation, not an endorsement of how the destination handles data.
The site does not currently load third-party scripts, embeds, or social widgets on its pages.
Children
This site is written for adults making decisions about their homes. We do not knowingly collect information from children, which is straightforward here given that we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
What would change if we add advertising or analytics
The site currently earns nothing. The intended model is display advertising, and possibly a small number of clearly disclosed affiliate links. Either would change what this page has to say, so here is what to expect and what we commit to.
- Display advertising. An advertising network typically sets its own cookies or identifiers and may collect data about the pages you view in order to select and measure ads. If we add one, this policy will be rewritten before it goes live to name the network, describe what it collects, link to its own disclosures, and explain your choices. Where the law requires a consent mechanism, one will appear.
- Analytics. If we add analytics, we will say which package, what it records, and whether it is configured to reduce or anonymize what it collects. We will prefer a configuration that measures pages rather than people.
- Affiliate links. These generally work by tagging a link so a merchant can attribute a sale. That involves the merchant, not us, receiving the click. See the affiliate disclosure, which currently reports that there are none.
- What will not change. We will not sell reader data, will not run lead-generation forms, will not pass anything to duct cleaning companies, and will not make the interactive tools collect information in order to work.
The date at the foot of this page tells you when it was last reviewed. If you are reading it and the site is carrying advertisements that are not described above, that is a defect and we would like to be told about it.
Your choices
Because we hold nothing about you, most data-subject requests have a short answer: there is nothing to export, correct, or delete except an email exchange, if you have had one, which we will delete on request. You can block cookies and JavaScript in your browser; the site’s content remains fully readable without either, and every tool’s underlying data is published as text for exactly that reason.
Changes to this policy
This page describes the site as of August 15, 2026. It will be reviewed at least annually and immediately upon any change to how the site operates. Material changes will be reflected here before the change takes effect, not after.
